ClemenGold, South Africa’s premium mandarin, is a wonderfully sweet, aromatic soft citrus fruit that is sun-ripened and handpicked by selected mandarin growers from across the world. In South Africa, where ClemenGold Gin originates, it is grown in Mpumalanga, Limpopo, the Southern and Western Cape regions and it is this unique mandarin which provides the flavour lead for our Gin.
Distilling this flavoursome fruit had been a dream of founder Abraham van Rooyen for many years, and so ClemenGold Gin was born and launched in Cape Town in 2016. Abraham’s family connection with Gert and Tanya Taljaard here in New Zealand resulted in the brand’s arrival to our shores in 2019, and has since seen Clemengold Gin become an established premium choice. Recognition on the international stage has also followed with 2 gold medal award wins to date, thereby confirming Abraham’s view of Clemengold’s potential and confirmation of its quality.

Eight botanicals are used when distilling this handcrafted gin - ClemenGold and orange peel, cinnamon, ground almond, juniper berries, angelica, orris root, and coriander are macerated and vapour-infused to bring gin aficionados this smooth Classic Cape Dry style gin with subtle hints of citrus. Smooth enough for a martini yet sophisticated enough for a classic G & T.
Clemengold’s distilling partners, Hope on Hopkins Distillery which is located in the heart of Cape Town, creates ClemenGold Gin using the age-old process of small-batch distillation with their two faithful stills, Mildred and Maude. Chief distillers Leigh and Lucy are true gin guru’s and are trusted with the brand and the consistency of our final product.
